Nabagala Agnes

My name is Nabagala Agnes , I was born in 1997 and I have only one sister. My parents are still alive but my mum left us with our dad. I am the first born and I was born deaf and we stay in Kyasanku Mpigi district.

I went to St. Kizito primary school for my education but I stopped in primary three. I did not proceed with my education since the children I was studying with coil talk and hear except for me who could neither talk nor hear.

Didn’t get the chance to study in the deaf community schools since they were expensive for my dad to afford. I later joined a vocational school and got skills on how to make bags in a period of one year.

In 2015, I became pregnant with my daughter but I never stayed with the father because he had another wife so my grandmother and aunt could take care of me and my daughter since the father couldn’t send any help for us.

Later on, someone took me  to Maya where I started sewing bags and jackets. I worked here for 3 years but later left because of the low salary I could earn. After some time, I met mrs. Majo and Mrs. Faith who took me to the Gejja women foundation .

I joined Gejja in 2022 and started to work there, though I didn’t know how to make the reusable pads, I learnt slowly slowly on how to sew them . I got skilled and am now experienced .

I thank Gejja women foundation  because they employed me and also pay my daughters school fees and scholastic materials

I thank God for having enabled me to meet nice and caring people of Gejja women foundation. I am proud to work with GEJJA
